The Texas Music Project relies on revenue from its products and services, as well as contributions and donations from individuals, foundations, philanthropists, and companies, to help strengthen music education in Texas public schools. In many cases, there is flexibility for donors to add requirements regarding how and where their music education donation is to be applied.

TMP has created a unique product to both educate the public and generate revenue -- a signature series of proprietary CDs entitled "Don't Mess with Texas Music" featuring renowned and deserving Texas artists/music, all of whom donate their songs to benefit music education. TMP also encourages the CD to be used as a local fundraiser by schools, PTA's and local arts organizations.

TMP also creates unique Texas music marketing programs to meet the needs of supporting companies who wish to both build their brands by aligning with Texas music/artists AND support music education in Texas schools. The CD is also available for bulk purchase by companies to use with consumers, customers, trade shows, or as Holiday gifts.

Participation by The Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Coalition for Quality Arts Education ensures that TMP Music Grants are targeted to productively contribute to a rigorous, sequential music education curriculum in Texas public schools.

To ensure TMP Music Grants are fairly and equitable distributed to Texas public schools in need throughout the State, TMP capitalizes on the proven disbursement process developed over decades by the Texas Commission on the Arts. TMP also works directly with committed communities and school districts to build capacity and funding for local schools. In these instances, the vast majority of funding generated stays "at home" and is distributed directly by TMP to the participating communities.
